Imagine a place where you can stroll along the promenade, enjoying the sea breeze and breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea.
A place to jog, play with children, or simply relax on a bench surrounded by greenery. A place rich in culture, with a museum dedicated to the sea and an open-air theater to enjoy performances under the stars. All this and much more will become a reality thanks to the San Cataldo Waterfront project, an ambitious redevelopment plan that will change the face of Bari’s seafront.
Finally, the dream is becoming a reality! For years, there has been talk of redeveloping the San Cataldo seafront, and now the project has finally taken off. Work has already begun and will continue until 2026, to give the city a seafront that is finally up to its potential.
The future is looking bright
The San Cataldo Waterfront project involves the realization of different works:
A New Seaside Promenade:
A charming pedestrian and cycling path will wind along the coastline, connecting the iconic San Cataldo Lighthouse to the Fiera del Levante. The promenade will be paved with high-quality materials and equipped with urban furnishings, lighting, and lush green spaces, creating a true open-air living room.
A New "Piazza del Faro":
A vibrant square with an outdoor theater will be created near the San Cataldo Lighthouse, perfect for hosting events and cultural activities. This new square will become a focal point for socializing and community gatherings.
Revitalization of Provolina Beach:
The sandy beach will be equipped with new amenities such as showers, changing rooms, and a bar, ensuring greater comfort for bathers. We will also expand the sunbathing area and install new children’s play equipment, for the enjoyment of the whole family.
Extensive Green Spaces:
New green spaces will be created, featuring playgrounds, sports and recreational areas, and relaxation zones. These areas will also be environmentally upgraded with the planting of new trees and the implementation of rainwater drainage systems.
Guaranteed Accessibility:
We will eliminate all architectural barriers to make the entire area accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Maintenance and restoration work will also be carried out to preserve the San Cataldo Lighthouse and make it accessible to the public.
Highlighting the San Cataldo Lighthouse:
The lighthouse, a symbol of the city, will be enhanced with a museum that tells the story of navigation and maritime communications in the Adriatic Sea.
New Services and Refreshment Points:
New services and refreshment points will be created along the promenade and in the green areas to meet the needs of citizens and tourists alike.
A Project for Everyone!
The San Cataldo Waterfront project is not just an urban redevelopment project, but also a project of inclusion and participation. The goal is to create a seafront that is accessible to everyone, citizens and tourists, residents and non-residents alike. A place to feel at ease, to spend free time with family and friends, to engage in sports, culture, and socializing.
The San Cataldo Waterfront project is a dream come true. A dream of a more livable, beautiful, and attractive city. A dream we can all share.
